Students in Nepal are increasingly choosing to study abroad in recent years. Numerous factors, such as the quest for better education, more work options, and exposure to various cultures, can be contributed to this tendency.

Nepal, a small country in South Asia, is still developing and lacks the resources necessary to provide high-quality education to its pupils. As a result, many Nepalese students are seeking an education abroad. Additionally, studying abroad provides more chances for both professional and personal development. Nepalis have been spending billions on student visas to travel abroad. According to data from Nepal Rastra Bank, the amount students spent on international education surged by 171.2% to Rs 67.7 billion in the most recent fiscal year compared to 2020-2021.

Challenges of the Nepalese Education System

Reason for choosing abroad study

The  education in Nepal is not as qualitative as in foreign countries. The syllabus is outdated and follows the traditional way of study. Nepal has plenty of reputable universities, but there are few places available, and the rivalry is fierce. This indicates that many deserving applicants require assistance to gain admission. Students from Nepal who study abroad have access to top-tier institutions with superior facilities and knowledgeable staff members.

2. Access to specialized programs

Nepalese students can pursue specialized degrees that aren’t available in their own country by studying overseas. For instance, numerous foreign colleges provide degrees in public health, renewable energy, and environmental science. Some people may accept or reject this justification. But in my opinion, this could be one of the reasons young people travel abroad. If you receive a higher degree from a foreigner, you’ll likely receive marriage proposals from a household with similar educational standards.

7. Peer group pressure:

 Studying abroad has grown popular among the younger generations recently. Both inside and outside of Kathmandu, there is no place for children to call home, whether they are studying abroad in Bangladesh or Australia. One is under pressure to study overseas as soon as he completes his 10+2 schooling, according to his peers.
